Shorts · Shadow AI

Bring AI out from under the desk.

Thirty seconds on the AI your team may already be using, and three plain rules that make it safe.

What the short says

  1. Is your team already using AI?
  2. On their phones, under the desk, quietly.
  3. Some of it helps. Some of it is customer details, pasted into a free chatbot that can keep them, with nobody here any the wiser.
  4. Banning it just sends it back under the desk, so we write three plain rules on one card.
  5. What it is for, what never goes in, and who to ask.
  6. Bob knows the rules, and Marv follows them.
  7. We are Subversive. Bringing AI out from under the desk.

The problem

What goes wrong

Free AI tools are a tap away on any phone, and they help, so people use them. Some of what goes in can be customer details, into tools that can keep them. Nobody decided this and nobody knows. A ban only sends it further under the desk.

What we do

How we fix it

We find out what is in use and what it is for, without blame. Then we write three plain rules on one card: what it is for, what never goes in, and who to ask. The tools worth keeping come in through the front door.

What you get

  • What is in use

Found out kindly, so people tell you.

  • The card

Three plain rules your team can keep in their heads.

  • Someone to ask

A named person for the questions the card does not answer.

  • Tools you approve

The ones worth keeping, set up properly.

How we start

Start with a day.

A workshop or a discovery day, and you keep the written notes whatever you decide next.

Then a first piece of work. Or keep us on: three months to begin, then month by month.

We quote for the job, once we know what it is.

A larger organisation? Start here.

On your own? Your first hour is free.
